Hickman Bridge, Capitol Reef National Park.

We packed our days full during fall break and have a lot more to share. One of our first hikes was up to Hickman Bridge. The desert landscape is a stark contrast to the orchards just a short drive from the trailhead. It is a short hike, only 1.8 miles round trip and has some very cool features along the way that ends at the bridge. It is uphill most of the way, but nothing too steep. You cross a lot of sandstone and a lot of areas covered in really fine sand. The hike is exposed the whole way and the only place you will find shade is under the bridge. If you are looking for a longer hike, the Rim Overlook trail and Navajo Knobs trail branch off about halfway up. The temperatures are nice this time of year, but can get very hot in summer.
